You Should Travel Around the U.S.

The United States is a culturally and geographically diverse country, with a never-ending number of cities to explore, cultures to experience, and sights to see.

More often than not, when I hear others discuss their travel plans, there’s a lack of interest in traveling around the States.

Some people tend to believe that if you’re not traveling abroad somewhere, then you’re not doing it right; I find that to be a bit ignorant.

With nearly 4 million mi² of land, and with a population of nearly 330 million people, thousands of cities, including a few of the largest in the world, various terrain types, etc. It’s safe to say that you’ll never run out of things to do and see here.

As someone who has traveled abroad on numerous occasions, some of my favorite places have still been in the States.

Here are five of my favorite cities that you should explore in the U.S.

New York City - With its ever-expanding cityscape, good public transit system, skyscrapers and much more, this city has been a favorite of mine since I first visited. Take a trip to the city if you enjoy urban centers with thousands of restaurants and bars to explore, the ability to walk around much of the city without having to use a vehicle, and if you love being in culturally diverse areas.

Las Vegas - Although gambling and visiting casinos aren’t my thing, I’d recommend visiting, if not for the beautiful landscapes that surround the city. This photo was captured from my hotel room’s window, during a trip there. There are also quite a few hiking trails right outside of the city. Be sure to bring your water, as it can get extremely hot, especially during the summer.

Seattle - If you’re looking for a place to visit that’s not only a large urban area, but also has mountains and other nature areas to explore, then look no further. I’ve only been to the city once, but I fell in love with it. Seattle’s walkable for the most part, has decent public transit systems, and plenty of stuff to do and see.

Los Angeles - Fantastic weather, mountains to explore, an endless number of tourist attractions and entertainment, and an all around beautiful city. Los Angeles has everything.

Chicago - What’s there not to like about Chicago? From seeing the Bean (pictured above), taking in incredible views of the city from the 94th floor observation deck in the Hancock Building, to walking alongside the Chicago River, there’s an endless amount of stuff to do and see in the city.
